Ceramides are lipids (fats) that are naturally found in the skin and make up about 50% of the skin’s protective barrier. They help retain moisture, protect against external irritants, and promote skin elasticity. A lack of ceramides can lead to dryness, sensitivity, and premature aging.

Ceramide III EP MB is a human skin-identical ceramide (Ceramide NP) that supports the restoration of the skin’s natural barrier and provides long-lasting moisture retention. It is convenient to use because the special blend form allows it to be processed at a lower temperature (approximately 75°C) compared to pure ceramide (>90°C), thus saving energy and preserving temperature-sensitive ingredients in the formula.

To ensure the availability of ceramides in cosmetics, they are obtained in various ways:

1. Biofermentation method – the most commonly used method in natural cosmetics. Microorganisms, such as yeast or bacteria, ferment plant-based raw materials (such as phytosphingosine), creating ceramides that are identical to those found in human skin.
2. Plant-based ceramides – extracted from rice bran, wheat germ, corn or soy. These ceramides contain phytoceramides, which improve the skin barrier and hydration.
3. Animal-based ceramides – were previously obtained from animal tissues, but are not used in natural and vegan cosmetics.
