Tea tree essential oil (Melaleuca alternifolia)
Tea tree essential oil is known for its anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, antiseptic and antimicrobial properties. This essential oil is effective against acne and soothes skin ailments. For centuries, aborigines have used tea tree oil as a traditional medicine. These indigenous Australians grind tea tree leaves to extract oil, which is then inhaled to treat coughs and colds or applied directly to the skin to heal.
